What you will study

This blended work-based programme is taught over 3.5 years and includes 11 compulsory modules with assessments, including a final project based in the working environment. There are three study days per module, with two consecutive days on campus at the start of each module followed by a further online study day approximately four weeks later.

Apprentices will need to complete their work-based assignments at their workplace and we estimate that on average successful completion of each module will take 15 hours study/development per week; approximately half of this will be covered by the 20% off-the-job learning hours. How the remaining study hours are completed should be discussed and agreed between the employer and apprentice.

Assessment

The programme is designed to enable apprentices to apply the academic theory to their own organisation and role. All apprentices are required to create a portfolio which will capture the knowledge, skills and behaviours developed on the programme and in the workplace.

In the final year, apprentices undertake a work-based project, which will bring together elements of their learning from different parts of the programme and show their accumulated knowledge and understanding of management and its application in their organisation. The portfolio and work-based project enables learners to reflect, plan and evaluate their development which will contribute to their end-point assessment.
